I attended a Klemmer weekend workshop. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. (ARE YOU STILL READING?) There are people with mental health issues who show up to participate in every type of activity under the sun. At Klemmer, there are lots of participants and there are exercises that benefit most of the people in the room. If a certain percentage become obsessed with what Klemmer does--that is NO DIFFERENT than people who continually sign up for other types of activities. The issue is that participants will be changed and have a different outlook after Klemmer...and this often means letting go of the crummy people in their lives. It could mean having an "ah-ha" about something in themselves that they find they want to further explore or develop...and those people who don't LIKE the change in a participant or who don't LIKE what might have been revealed to a participant are angry, bitter, and quick to call "cult!" Should there be a screening process for "mental soundness" before people can attend? In that case, acting classes and exercise classes and classes or activities of any type would need to be monitored. Klemmer is expensive--but if someone chooses to continue participating--that's their right and their decision. If I could have gone on to do more (I can't afford the other workshops) I might have. They are NOT A CULT. They attract people who want to make their lives better. "Psychology" is involved in every single aspect of business, classes, sports and other activities. And there are people with mental health issues everywhere . My Klemmer workshop was a game-changer in my life.
