Grateful, the funny thing is that the students surveyed didn't even say that the institute met NONE of the criteria of a cult, just only some. They did a survey with two different sets of criteria and then picked the one where students said they didn't meet any of the criteria.
First they asked students about Wright using the cult criteria from the International Cultic Studies Association, and they got three "yes" hits:
-The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt in order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion. (67% said this applied to Wright)
-The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members. (87% said this applied to Wright)
-Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities. (79% said this applied to Wright)
Survey size was 39 people from their "more intimacy training," which is one of their "advanced" weekly "labs," as distinct from their big weekend-long seminars.
Obviously this made them look bad, so they asked the same group to rate Wright using the Cult Awareness and Information Center's "criteria for determining if a group is a destructive cult". This second set of criteria got all "no" answers, so that's the one they went with in their "due diligence" report they paid for (and which Bob and Judith had final editorial say over anyway).
These people are great manipulators and hide inconvenient facts when it suits their purposes. More bluntly, they're snakes and no one should trust them.
