Re: PhD on LGATs

These sorts of system 1 associations are far more likely to occur when people are exhausted... which they are at the end of the training.

What we learned during message board discussion here at Rickross.com/CEI.com back in 2003 to 2004 was that the physical setting was a key component of the LGAT process. People were set up to get confused and boundary compromised early in the process.

It may be a coincidence but soon after a bunch of us began examining Landmark's room set up, trolls did all they could to disrupt the discussion.

The room set up is likely to remain the same no matter which LGAT we are looking it - it is that important, and it is a component that usually escapes notice.

We have to wonder if Werner Erhard spent time studying casino design - and continues to do so.

To use a crude computer analogy, people who used to work for Landmark helped us
identify several components that form the LGAT process.

Hardware -- Aspects of the LGAT that target the subject's bodies

room set up (chairs spaced close together so as to put the LGAT subjects into subtle stress positions and violate normal physical boundaries

Blocking windows so as to exclude natural light, which disrupts normal sleep wake cycle (and may get people vulnerable to manic states)

Re arranging chairs and re assigning seat arrangements so that subjects cannot form social groups on their own or get a sense of stable physical anchoring

Some former LGAT subjects reported that room temperature was changed throughout the seminar running the air conditioning cold.

Software - jargon and verbal confusion

Gaslighting and double binds - The Red Black Game, telling subjects that evening class resumes at 7:30 PM, then the Forum Leader yells at people for returning late even though they have returned on time. Tired people are easily confused to distrust their perception and are by this time accustomed to seeking guidance from the forum leader.
