The Spezzanos work to silence their critics, including with legal threats. The Spezzanos want critics to stop saying that they use stage hypnotism, and that they use a type of affinity fraud to infiltrate First Nations communities in Canada.

Documents about the group can be found here http://psychologyofvision.blogspot.com/ These include copies of posts from past Spezzano websites that are now only accessible through the Internet Archives - Wayback Machine. also relevant legal documents can be found.

I highly recommend folks dealing with the Spezzanos read the book Cults Inside Out: How People Get In and Can Get Out, by Rick Alan Ross. http://www.amazon.com/Cults-Inside-Out-How-People/dp/149731660X Especially the chapters on Large Group Awareness Trainings and on Guru Groups. The whole book is very valuable and you will find much that relates directly to what Chuck and Lency Spezzano, and their trainers in Psychology of Vision (along with the various spin offs) do.

Thanks for the tip, Here's the thing I know, My friend and I are not based in Australia, so there is no actual "figurehead" to control her, nor handlers. From what I know, she has been doing the online course for a few months before attending the actual physical course for almost a week, So, it's not that easy to pinpoint it being an actual cult but I do believe that some brainwashing has occurred there.

Because I had someone close to me before go through an LGAT experience and committed suicide brought on by psychosis, I am very aware about the the classic LGAT tactic to keep the attendees in the circle and to keep spending,

This one seems different yet similar and as yet, I have yet to find solid proof about this organization being a cult or scam.

Yes. It appears to be an LGAT.

Would not recommend an LGAT to anyone under any circumstances.

I would never recommend anyone to go for LGAT too!

Chuck Spezzano promotes himself in Germany as having a PhD in Clinical Psychology. In USA and Canada he says he has a PhD in Counseling Psychology. None of this is true.

What he does have is a PhD in "Professional Psychology". From a school that was not accredited by the APA at the time. http://psychologyofvision.blogspot.com/2015/09/charles-lee-spezzano-ph-d-in_28.html

Chuck Spezzano is not licensed in Hawaii or anywhere else as a psychologist. The degree he currently has would not make him eligible for licensing without further education and experience. Chuck has stated to a reporter that he is not a psychologist, he is a coach. The State of Hawaii has even in the past fined him for pretending to be a psychologist.

Chuck Spezzano is not a licensed psychologist. Yet he persists in lying and misrepresenting his degree, training, education. He is not a legit professional. He does not have the experience, training, peer review, or oversight needed.

Chuck tells people that he will give them fast track to psychological truths. This is untrue. What he does give people is a fast track to financial and family ruin.

I realize this thread is very old but I did some google searching and ran across it.
I was in Episode 2 of this show. Regardless of the tactics used and your opinion of people on reality tv, this program saved my marriage. I was never coerced by anyone to act in a way that I had not intended. So it wasn't like Jerry Springer. I chose to go on TV because my entry fee and all of my expenses were taken care of. Plus, the option to let other "normal" people that have marriage problems like mine see that maybe they could make it work too. This was the best thing I ever did for my marriage. So, I hate to see people knock what Jim and David are doing. They are very up front about not being therapists or licensed counselors. They never mentioned Dr Phil that I'm aware of. What they did and do work for a lot of people. Not all. Some people require much more than 4 days of hard core counseling. But for normal people that just cant figure out what is coming between them and their spouse, it was perfect. Anyway, just in case someone else read this thread and was skeptical (since they still host these seminars), I wanted to say that it was worth being on TV (even though I'm glad you can't find it online anywhere) to save my marriage. And I feel a great debt of gratitude to Marriage Boot Camp for what is has done for my family.

A top trainer in B.C., Canada has taken to publicly stating that all critics of POV, including anyone who listens to critics, are "evil". She behaves in a bullying manner.

Fortunately critical awareness of this problematic large group awareness training is spreading. I hope anyone bullied by this group reports this to law enforcement, gathers support from family and friends, and keeps educating themselves.

It really is okay to speak out about POV.

Hi

I started this thread in the hope that there are other people out there who have been for the Turning point workshops held by the Banai's at the Insight Centre of Of light in Kyalami.

I did do the Turning point workshop a couple years back and did NOT enjoy it, My hubby who did many years before me INSISTED i do it. He redid the workshop Turning point...then Joyspring..and the Mile. This was about 8 months back.
Our relationship has deteriorated to the point i want to leave him. He gives me all the psychological bs....of "win/win situation" look into myself....im selfish.... im sabotaging our marriage....and a whole lot more.

I have read all the threads relations to LGATS and the type of brain washing that goes on.

Is the process reversible?

any help or suggestion are welcomed.

There is quite a bit of information about LGATs (large group awareness training) also called mass marathon training.

See [www.culteducation.com]

To better understand the coercive persuasion used by many LGATs see

There is a also a book available that includes a chapter about LGAT and getting someone out of an LGAT.

Dear sumi:

Over the years, others have discussed Insight Centre of Light.

[forum.culteducation.com]

One way to recognize an LGAT or other type of irresponsible seminar is the type of waiver form subjects must sign as a condition of participation. In effect, you give them credit for your successes -- and by signing that waiver form, you release them from all responsibility if you are harmed. You are signing away your citizen rights to sue or mediate for damages.

LGAT release/waiver forms.

Room Arrangment

Some LGATs set the room up in a particular way. In some cases furniture is set up with great precision, and re-arranged while subjects are on break. Often, care is taken to re-assign subjects to new groups to prevent people from forming connections with buddies.

This discussion, "Manipulating the room's environment" became one of the most active discussions in the LGAT section of this forum. Troll disruption reached fever pitch -- a sure sign that this topic was an important one.

The impact of LGAT sleep deprivation.

People can easily run short on sleep if they are kept up to a late hour, and or given homework assignments that oblige them to stay up past bedtime, and then rise early enough in the morning to get to the next day of the LGAT event.

Sleep Deprivation

Many LGATs use some form of the Prisoners Dilemma game, sometimes called Red Black Game.

So I hear NXIVM hacked into a billionaire's computer while pursuing legal recourse against those who supposedly logged into their network using someone's account, which they claim is hacking. I work in the computer industry, and that isn't hacking. Hacking is something which NXIVM did by way of Clare Bronfman when she installed a virus on the daddy's computer. What a bunch of hypocrites. When are the the public servants who enforce the law in Albany, New York going to do anything about this charlatan of a leader? I guess having two mega millionaires in your pocket helps to pay the bills for the liars...<cough>...I mean lawyers to keep them at bay. The guy is a user of people who can't even feel shame about spending other people's money to masturbate his own ego. Do their members do anything except recruit people to take an endless stream of courses and post social media links and "feel good" messages ripped off from other people on twitter and facebook all day? Is this all that LGAT is?

In the early 90's I took Justin's Sterling's Women's Weekend and was lured into joining the Family of Women, which I became heavily involved in for three years. Thankfully I managed to get out when I saw that they were demanding more and more of my time, energy, and resources. I was the head of enrollment in NY for a short time, and they told me that if I left that position my life would fall apart and I would never have a "successful relationship" with a man.

Thankfully, I had the fortitude to leave when I awakened to the fact that my financial security was on shaky ground because all of my time was going to FOW activities. Essentially I was working for Justin without getting paid for it. I needed to devote time and energy to the new business I was starting.

I'm just learning now through the Cult Education website that I was involved in a cult. What a relief it is to have so much validation reading the experiences of other people. To help my healing process, I would like to connect with other people who were able to get out of this cult.

Welcome to the message board community.

Congratulations on heeding your self care instincts and getting out when you did.

One thing what will be helpful is learning both how LGATS (Large Group Awareness Training Seminars) work.

Recruitment. I learned some new and valuable things about recruitment from
reading Cults Inside Out: How People Get In and Can Get Out.

(This book has 5 star reviews and 1 star reviews -- indicating that it is well worth reading!)

Often, a trusted friend or family member who is high and happy after a seminar will be set up to serve, without realizing it, as an "agent of deployment" -- aka recruiter.

Recruitment through existing relationships based on trust, friendship, love -- this is the most powerful kind of outreach there is. We are human, we have to trust someone. And very few of us think to do background checks on something recommended to us by someone we already trust.

And the people who are all worked up an serve as "agents of deployment"?

They are subjects who have been processed through the LGAT sausage grinder.

Subjects are not given full disclosure about what has been done to them. Subjects not told the actual background of the people running the operation.

The LGAT takes credit for our successes and we take the blame if we get hurt.

An LGAT contains much more than include features that target subject's bodies (stress, sleep deprivation).

No person no matter how intelligent and healthy, can preserve critical thinking if sleep deprived. When we run short on sleep, this literally hits at the "hardware" of the human central nervous system.

Critical thinking is disrupted.

Other components of the LGAT foster regression -- take subjects to the part of themselves that corresponds to very early childhood. We all have this buried within us; an LGAT cracks it open -- and in front of strangers, with no safeguards for confidentiality or after care.
