BEST Definition for a Cult

$

I personally work with a very good, professional life coach, that also happens to have experience helping individuals and families break free of cults.

I was having a conversation with him the other day and I asked him how he defines a cult, and he said this.

"There are many very very good definitions and check-lists already out there to help people understand what a cult is, but I simply add this ...

A Cult is an individual, group or organization that actively conspires to subvert or undermine the agency of an individual."

I heard that, and immediately wrote it down!

Tell him not to worry so much. Many people become depressed and lonely. I believe that first he should dig into himself, and he must find out the cause of his depression. If he can't understand this then advise him to read about his problem at https://breakupangels.com/cheating-in-relationships/. Thanks to them, I could to sort out my feelings. I couldn't to understand why I had conflicts with people. In short, he shouldn't be afraid to ask for help to solve these problems. We are all human beings, and we all need help.

Gratitude Training confuses people about what should be important to them - by rubbing their egos and convincing people they are 'the source of all things'.

WHAT BULLSHIT!

Re: Momentum Education

Momentum Education is a cult that utilizes social-psychological warfare to target individuals who do struggle with certain aspects of their life path as we all do. Like the snakes in the pulpit (Pastors, Preachers, Deacons, etc.), they profit from their members' emotionality. This organization has adopted many of the tenants of the 48 Powers of Law by Robert Greene.

Their educators are class-action bullies. When you step into your power, many of them have a problem with that. They feel like they should be benefitting from your success. I paid for all of my seats in Momentum Education. No one funded me. I don't owe anyone anything. They will use your weaknesses discovered in basic, advanced, and LT to further play with your emotions to get you to enroll in their new and upcoming workshops. They coach and groom people within the organization to befriend you to try to get to enroll you back into participating in the organization's event. I recall receiving a phone call about registering for more workshops. I said I already did Basic, Advanced, and LT. They said I didn't do Mastery or Impactful Coaching. If your single, they try to push you into their Love workshops, and if you have financial issues, they will push you into their financial seminars. I have yet to meet anyone that benefitted from those two specific programs. They will refer you to their money workshops run by an individual that recently received a $20,000.00 GofundMe to rebuild her home that burned down. It is a nice gesture, but how does that look that their top money expert needed a GoFundMe. Where is your reserve? They will then push Doterra products on you. If you don't engage in any of these activities, they will passive-aggressively bully you, scream, or harass you online or offline differently. The members who don't want to engage in gainful employment will vary and target other members who are doing well and beg for money or tell you that you need to be more giving and give away money. It's just sickening what's going on in this "network." If you’re not vegan or on the journey of being vegan, many of them eyeball you and blame your health challenges on eating meat. LOL. I know many individuals who are not vegan and are very healthy.

You can't have a conversation with these people without someone attempting to "coach you" so that they can get the honor of saying that helped you. "I am responsible for this person's success because I coached them." Meanwhile, you may be just venting or asking for advice. They will use that entirely against you and throw it back in your face weeks or months later. You have to be mindful of the relationships you form as some leaders participating in Momentum’s Psychoanalytic Program are using "connections," aka friendships, as their research for this course. I know individuals who are very close to the lead coaches and have shared information with me. So, while you think you are having a heart-to-heart with a friend, you are being observed, pushed, pulled, and coached to benefit their assignments. There is a difference between being in this program and being forthcoming that you need to engage with someone for research vs. forming a false relationship for research.

They claim that we are all co-creators but don't take responsibility for their fuck ups within creation or collaboration. They will incessantly harass you about your life and goals. It's quite disgusting, especially for the LMHC, LCSW, LPC, and Psychologists within the company. These people who are in the mental health arena should know better! I've had so many experiences where I have paid other people in the network for services, and they deliver their services poorly or don't deliver at all. The excuse will be, well, where are you not delivering services in your own life. They will flip specific outcomes back against you to justify keeping money for services they did not deliver. If Microsoft is paying you for assistance, I am pretty sure that you would provide them. However, because so many people in the network are not on Microsoft's level, they tend to drop the ball with delivering services. It's money-hungry people who don't want to do the work because they learned from the organization that they could effortlessly get money. Their idea of effortlessly getting cash is asking for handouts consistently.

My Emo (the person who brought me into the organization) was the least supportive individual I have ever met who can mask herself as if she's a supporter. If I were going through a personal challenge, she would blame my challenge on not giving more to others and helping other people out. They use the Giver vs. Taker activity from the Advanced Workshop back against you. This activity identifies people who give too much of themselves versus putting their needs first. The takers are selfish individuals who look solely out for themselves. They are opportunists. Some people score high on the end of each spectrum than others. One can use Giver vs. Taker against someone. Suppose you are identified as an individual who needs to put yourself first. Coaches will manipulate you for taking a stand and putting yourself first. For example, I need help for my situation, but she's saying I am not helping others enough and then pitching what she needs or what one of her clients needs and helping her with that. I would never refer anyone to this program. It's more damaging than it appears. This business is a business based on using your emotional well-being and how well you’re doing to THEIR advantage. Momentum Education is entirely different from therapy, whereas therapy focuses on the person as a whole without force. This experience has taught me to be more aware of people’s motives.

If you take a good look at their social media, they are always rotating their leads' successes and not their members' successes within the organizations that have made strides in their careers. The ones highlighted are the ones that are always involved in the promotion of their workshops. I know many people that are no longer actively involved for this exact reason. Poor representation and real inclusivity it's more elitist.

Have I benefited from certain aspects of this program? Yes, I have; however, stepping into my power is viewed as a problem as well. When you step into your power, putting yourself first and smashing goals is considered selfish, showing off, or trying to make other members look bad. Significantly if Momentum Education is not getting credit or your time, they recognize that you need to put yourself first. When you do, it’s a problem that is genuinely their problem as it mirrors what they are failing to do themselves. Right? Mirroring is one of the foundational lessons that they often teach and refer to as an explanation when you experience not-so-great things with any co-creator. The most significant breakthrough I have had was when I decided to disconnect from Momentum Education.

A deeply unfortunate situation for anyone to find themselves in - all the more so when being made redundant by a company that has raked in tens if not hundreds of millions in profit for its wealthy owners off the back of "volunteer" workers.

Equally concerning though is that even organisations like Landmark have been able to claim money from the UK's furlough scheme - a government fund to cover 80% of the salaries of employees who have been unable to work because their employers have had to close due to the pandemic.

Seminars are great for first-year students; it gives them a sense of the community they are about to enter. At least, this is how I perceived it! I support the idea of seminars, not only because it was helpful at the beggining but also because I had the opportunity to plan it during my senior year. I know that many students hated the idea of attending the first-year seminar and that they were waiting to wear the attire for the graduation ceremony from the very first day at the uni. But FYS was a very cool thing!

Hello Network,

Newbie here. I have a question about Holdt's site american(dash)pictures(dot)com I needed to ask cult awareness authorities.

I read with great interest the article published here on this website

"Group influence and the psychology of cultism within Re-evaluation Counselling: a critique"

[culteducation.com]

about the RC movement. From a prior relationship I used to own all their books but threw them all in the trash one day a couple decades ago after reading of the abuses. And it is a so-called successful squirrel group of scientology (like a communist version of scientology). I never participated in meetings or joined the organization.

So my question is, is Holdt's site and apparent life's work of no value at all?

The site is all infused with pretty much 100 proof RC theory and language. I don't know about counseling practices, since I haven't run across that demonstrated on the site.

Holdt apparently needed strength to get through this self-chosen journey, on the one hand he is clergy, so he has that, but then he apparently also used RC to get through what I imagine would be his "patterns of fear/discomfort" etc.

Now is it all bunk? The pictures seem powerful to me, but is this really a case of appropriation if it is all dressed up in RC theory?

I don't want to point anyone to it if that's the case. I have a feeling it is appropriation. The film and workshop is shown to privileged (white) kids at expensive colleges, but I don't see any actual outcomes from something like that. The underclass is still with us.

The reason why I'm looking at it now, is not because I expect to reemerge from my liberal racist tendencies and recover my authentic soul so I no longer need whiskey, but rather that corporate America's Diversity initiatives are reeling from the recent events, and we low level employees are being offered a sort of Lukewarm Privilege Pre-Soak in response to the "naked oppression" we've witnessed during the pandemic.

I don't know why the decades old diversity initiatives are being conflated with the BLM protests and recent problems of the "naked oppression".

It's seems a lame attempt to offer objectives, definitions, agreements and such whose terminology can't even be found at all Holdt's site if you google for them. These diversity corporate zoom discussions happen in the same breath as mentioning the latest police shooting, as if this lukewarm construct is being offered to BLM as a response to the "naked oppression". I don't know why that isn't infuriating? Maybe it's just me.

It could be just another case of appropriation, with the same lack of outcome. It's like a case of appropriation pulled through an opaque wall of glass bricks, so the origin is fuzzy on the other side, for "privacy" I wonder? Maybe that's it, the powers that be want to respond, but are unable to directly, so we have to settle for lukewarm soda instead.

I had hoped Holdt's pictures or tools would be something I could actually personally use, but perhaps I should just delete it and move on, if it represents a pattern of appropriation.

Well that's about it.

Thank you group.

About "MONEY BACK GUARANTEE"

I went to a Lifespring course in the 1980s.
(Ironically, the same girl who sucked me into Church of Christ as a teen sucked me into this one too.)

Reading even for a few minutes about the various LGATs is enlightening: they were all started by someone who had been a part of an LGAT, who then "had differences" or "bright ideas" and huffed off to start his own LGAT.

They all blend together to me now, Werner and Werner-offshoots: est, forum, landmark, lifespring, MSIA, ad nauseum. . . .

I stuck out the entire five days of LifeSap because that was the condition for getting my money back.

I got it back, too: $350.00.

The program info said it was for five days. Then, at the very end, they expected a sixth return. I didn't live in the area, and wasn't staying around for it.

The woman who took my phone call about the refund said that another condition was that I could never enroll in another LifeSap LGAT again.

No problem there!

Gratitude Training Attendee Murders Child, Grandmother and Self

This past weekend Gratitude Training Graduate, Timothy Wall, entered a Publix and killed a one-year child, and a grandmother before turning the gun on himself.

Here is the Article : Publix murder-suicide: Grandmother tried to fight off man in seemingly random attack

On their private Gratitude Training Group they responded as follows:

"So sorry to share this sad news. Tim Wall, ML9 is no longer with us. I will spare the tragic details as the info is in the article below for those who want to know. Many of you in this community knew him, especially the early grads. He often door guarded in West Palm Beach. Sending love and prayers to the family of those killed and to all of you who knew them and Tim. And to anyone out there struggling with mental illness. I don't want to make this a political post, but I do wish there were more resources for people struggling with mental illness to get them the help they need (and to reduce the stigmas around it). And I am grateful that my wife and mother-in-law's guardian angels detoured them as they both were close to being there as it happened."

To the trainers and owners of Gratitude Training: Jo Englesson, Francine Rahe, Chris DeSanti, Ray Blanchard, Michael DeSanti, Shane Kohler, Barry Warren, Kris Garloff and Ryan Soave,

Between murders, a slew of suicides, countless 'accidental' deaths and now this... these are your results.

A big fight last night.
I just mentioned the group, and it was on.
Just a mere mention of this stupid group, and I have to spend an hour apologizing for it.
EIGHT YEARS LATER!
I am growing tired of this nonsense.
Married 20 years, and I don't think we are going to get past this.

Thanks,

It has been 10 years since Michael’s death and RW is still going strong. When will Osho’s publishers sue them for plagiarism? There is so much of Osho’s writings in over 100 of Michael’s letters. Maybe because he was careful not to publicly publish or sell them. Very clever. He will always be a thief as long as RW keeps printing them without acknowledging their source. The big lie that he cultivated to fool his community, the big lie he took to his grave. How sad and pathetic.

hey i just saw you reply ...after a year:P. Yeah that was what i have come to believe now that a scammer is not only the one who does it intentionally but unintentionally too. But in the end they can both do damage. I personally don t believe that any type of "method" like that is worth considering. That s the problem It s not about a "method". I rely this on a really basic truth which we all kinda know i believe "you make simple things into A THING you get messed up." It s great to hear that there other people see through these bullshit. Because the "fans" of these guys are too hooked to see it ,it s nice to hear there others on the other side.
i hope my frustaration and anger about these guys goes away some time but it s still there sometimes and it comes when i realize there are still trash of these books in my head and i get frustrated.
